A
spontaneous visit on a cultural event in Arboga turned into a funny
raid. Before we knew it, Jesper and I stood in the spotlight on the
stage and had all the attention from the audience. What we had
attended was actually an opening ceremony with the international
cultural 'top'. They had gathered to make sculptures of peace from
old pieces of war material. Broken machines, weapons etc.. Amongst
eminent proffesors and ministers we were asked to give a short
presentation of our "journey of peace". And so we did..!
Why
Statues of Liberties and sculptures of peace when all you need is a
hug? ;)
You
gotta watch the video until the end..!
Elin P.S. On the pic, our dear Simon preparing us a lovely breakfast. Pancakes! :D
We
had a great stay in Uppsala! A lovely mother of a nice couchsurfer
took very good care of us and inspired us with her burning charisma
to keep spreading joy. Hopefully many people got advantage of the
outcome (above) :P
With
2000 km behind us and 4500 km ahead we've had 44 people joining us
with vehicles/long boards or roller skates so far. So come on
everybody! Make sure to pinpoint the right date in your calendar when
we pass your city. Don't mind if you don't have any bike, you're
always welcome to jog along!
We
got the advantage to have lunch with some tent-nomads. Bingo! Some
swedish people who live in a tent all year round..! They were not
anti the society, nor trying to affect anybody. Simply aiming for
simplicity. Hopefully we'll have the chance to meet them again at
their current camp in a few weeks.
We
also got the advantage to try an ordinary bicycle when we left Gävle.
That was a funny experience!
I'll
make my best to pick out a nice variation of happenings since the
last time I wrote.
While
asking for filling up our water bottles Jesper and I met some sweet
oldies. They were sharing a house on the countryside and were very
open minded and glad. It seemed like an exceptional model of how I'd
like to spend my days when I grow old.
When
we reached Ljusdal a young guy joined us on his BMX. His name was Sam
and I really like that name. Jesper suggested that he could call me
Sam too, so for a few days I had a go on that name. With this exotic
experience I might wish being called something new one day. Just for
fun..
Earlier
in Bollnäs we were sharing a flat of one room with nine other
youths. Though their young age they were really altruistic and filled
our hearts with delight for many days. :)
Elisabet
Sahtuoris, evolutionary biologist: "What's the most important
meditation we can do now?"
Dalai
Lama: "Critical thinking followed by action. Discern what the
world is, notice the plot, the scenario of this human drama and then
figure out where your talent might fit in to make a better world. And
each of us must do something that makes our heart sing, because no one
wanna do it with us if we're not passionate and inspired."
Howard
Zinn: "Every word you order to another human being has an
affect. But you don't know it. If people began to understand that
change comes about as result of millions of tiny acts that seem
totally insignificant, well, then they wouldn't hesitate to take
those tiny acts."
With
our warmest recommend we encourage everyone to watch this movie while
it's still avaliable.

Ingen
ungas trygghet i vardagen.
Denne samme

Fredsuppdraget
startades 1:a Januari 2012 av Micke Gunnarsson.
:)
Someone
told me that there are many people knowing more about what's
happening on the television than how their friends and family are
doing. Is that really so?
Make
new friends or take the time to hang out with your old friends!
Discover the fantastic possibilities of networking! Dare to ask
others for help when you need it. Dare to give compliments more
often! Dare to smile at people even if you don't know them.
If
we have the power to create disaster, we also have the power to
maintain peace. In spite of everything, that's what many people claim
they want. And it starts within yourself.
Leafy
willows embracing us in Swedens most northern vegetated area and
after three weeks with much rain the sun is finally shining on us
again! People from Piteå are known to be very friendly. According to
the highest number of hugs we've reached (so far), they really live
up to the record! Let's see if any other city can peak ;)
But
getting closer the reality isn't always like discovering a sunshine
story in the pouring rain. I approached an old man asking him if he
also wanted a hug. He nodded and replied that he didn't have anyone
at all to hug. His common law wife was long gone dead and now he was
alone. That man's face when he looked at me really affected me and I
thought about a friend of mine who works within the police system. My
friend has taken care of corpses and seen too many apartments where
terribly many swedish die alone. Nobody missing the old ones. It's
common that the corpses have been lying for several weeks. All
fermented when they're finally found. Neighbours complaining about an
strange odour and then calling the police..
Today
I met a guy from Africa. He was temporarily working in Sweden and
seemed sad about our culture. We often pretend not to see if there's
another person in the same room. We avoid eye contact with people we
meet. We rarely give things spontaneously but for someone's birthday
or at Christmas many of us buy and give presents in a forced way. For
what reason? What are we so afraid of?
Face
it, instead of competing and comparing we succeed and reach a higher
level of satisfaction when we're collaborating and helping each
other. Mother Earth has enough resources to provide everybodies
needs. Not everybodies desire.
When
you change the way you look at things, things you look at change.
